A growing number of our towns and cities are home to breeding pairs of Peregrine Falcons, some of which have their own webcams, e.g. Derby, Brighton and of course London.
Elsewhere in the UK Peregrine Falcons still face illegal persecution, as these recent headlines demonstrate:
- Peregrine nest targeted in Staffordshire (RSPB, 27 May 2010)
- Rare bird egg smuggler case first in 20 years (Police Professional, 13 May 2010)
- Protected eggs are stolen from falcons’ nest (The Bolton News, 12 May 2010)
It’s not all doom and gloom though. I’ll leave you with an encouraging tweet from wildlife consultant and fellow Peregrine enthusiast Ed Drewitt.
